My mom and I spent an entire day last time I was in Ohio looking at wedding bands. After looking and looking we also did some learning:
Stainless Steel: very lightweight, affordable, scratches easily, can not be resized
Titanium: a little heavier, a bit higher priced, many design options, scratches easily, can not be resized
Tungsten: a little heavier, middle of the road priced [$300 and up], many design options, can not be resized
Gold/Silver: didn't even look at either because they are all really narrow, and would not even be flattering in the slightest on the FH's large hands. These are [by far] the most expensive but can be resized.
The very first place we looked, I found something that I loved. It was tungsten and at a reasonable price. As we searched, the same ring kept showing up at other stores, usually at a higher price. It became very interesting to hear what some of the jewelry stores were telling us about each material. Most of the rings I kept being drawn to were Tungsten. It is the most reasonably priced material and has the best durability. I don't know about you, but my FH always has his hands in something. Like me, he will be wearing this ring for the rest of his life so I'd personally like for it to last. At the end of the day, I decided that Tungsten would be the best fit. I didn't purchase anything at the time, but had a greater understanding of what I was looking for so I could continue to look. **random fact: he doesn't really care what his ring looks like, his only request was no diamonds **
...fast forward two weeks...
I bought his wedding band today. It was a decision that I knew I would just have to find the right deal to make. When I was at the mall today wasting time, I stopped in to get my ring cleaned. The jeweler tried to sell me this exact ring for $350. I knew I could find a better deal, and boy did I!

Tungsten, 9mm, lifetime warranty, comfort fit band, and can't-beat-it-with-a-stick price! I am so excited to get it in the mail! A lifetime warranty on a band like this is a blessing. Most jewelers we visited offered this service as a one time deal for a decent upcharge [on top of an already very high ticket price]. Apparently when given direct pressure, tungsten may shatter. Well, have no fear! Lifetime Warranty! Since this material can not be resized, if the FH ever needs another size [or by some freak accident breaks it], we can just send it back, and they will send a new one. Pretty fabulous if you ask me!
Bottom line: If you're looking for a wedding band, SHOP AROUND!
That's all for now. I'm excited!
